[X] Attempt to break open the second door from the top, there might be a back exit somewhere. Sneaky seems our best bet for now. we are very obvious right now. Hopefully we will gain some skills soon.

[X] Attempt to break open the second door from the top, there might be a back exit somewhere. 1-20 the estate have been vacated, 21-30 The apprentice is sneaking out the side door, 31-50 traps were activated before the mansion was evacuated, 51-70 The militia comes investigating, 71-90 Someone have arrive to procure you, 91-100 Something is here. Abruptly changing your mind about grandiose entrances, or any kind of entrances at all, you turn around on your heel and start down for the second door from the top.
In your humble experience, breaking through a door is quite an easy achievement. Provided it is made of dead wood. Unfortunately for you, all the doors except for the top most door are burly things of iron. Fortunately, someone did not bother to install a door frame of a likewise robust material, and the current one is made of simple wood.
You grin.
However, you might want to do this all sneaky like. Since that seems to be the whole point of this subterfuge thing. So you simply pry away parts of the frame around the locking mechanism. Not completely silent work, but it will have to do.
Nudging the door open as quietly as you can, you inadvertently shudder as the metal door makes the damaged frame creak.
Walking down the empty corridor you cast your gaze around you, not seeing much of anything except for more corridor. At its end there is another door, this one is all iron, frame and all.
Turning around, intent on back tracking, you spot a small ingress that blends together with the wall.
A servants passage, unused as far as you can garner.
Following the rather tight passage, you are soon enough met with steps leading up.
You find yourself emerging from a small supply room into a deserted kitchen.
Hearing voices nearby sends you scurrying right back into the supply room, pondering your next move.

First off, the dice rolling doesn't really seem to work that well. The idea was to involve the players, but the averaging somewhat kicks the participation appetite. I intend to change that a bit, the first thought was to make away with it altogether, but I didn't want to do that. So I am going to make away the bad parts and then see what happens. It will still be three rolls of 1d20 But with No averaging. Instead they will be tallied up, this means that I will have to slightly adjust how I set the success limit, but if you see something that looks majorly unfair call me out on it and I will change it. Now the last post ended with success, so I will write that and we can use the new system for the future. Also, do the rolls with Invisible Castle invisiblecastle.com/roller/With DiseaseQuest input in the character name field so I can check that the rolls are legitimate. The next update will probably be up as soon as I get back later on tonight.

[X] Attempt to sneak past whoever is out there. (10) Success
Once again deciding that discretion is the better part of valor, you gently push the supply door open. Only to come face to face with a human decked out in sparse protective cowering. Think fast 1-40 Tackle and headbutt, (RH) 41-80 Third leg kick, (TF) 81-100 Neck punch (MA) Your leg speeds up as you twist your body intuitively so that it lies horizontal with your kick. The result being the intended target forcibly expelling most of the air in their lungs, and crumbling to the ground with a pained groan.
Aiming another kick to its neck, which causes a snapping sound to emanate. Having dealt with that unwanted surprise, you drag the warm meat into the supply closet. Perhaps some enterprising kitchen help will appreciate you filling the provision room. Nah.
The militiaman had no doubt been attracted to the kitchen by the sound you made when you first appeared from the servants passage, you hurry out the door conveniently connecting the kitchen with the outside.
And promptly curse your rotten luck.
Witheroak Manor, the treacherous memory of your body's former inhabitant informs you, is surrounded by a magical hedge wall. It was once a thing of beauty and life, but the affliction - caused by the Witheroak estate's proximity to to the Withering Sands - have given it the same white lifeless pallor that all plants gained when Something struck back against the travelers, who uses the town as a rally point for their excursions.
Breathing in heated air, you take stock of the situation.
The manor grounds have one entrance, clearly visible from the front of the mansion, where the militia no doubt have posted guards. The grounds, once a beautiful and overt garden, is now a graveyard of the green. Faded flowers and shrubbery abound. Several trees adorn the domain, providing limited cover, and few are close to the hedge wall.
You ponder the possibility of scaling one of the trees, and then simply jumping the hedge. But you deem the withered things too unsteady to support you.
What do? [] Run for it. [] Attempt to climb one of the trees. [] Search the grounds. Aristocrats are like foxes. And your memory might be wihtholding information you could use. Verify. [] Write-in.

[X] Run for it.
To heck with it.
There is no easy answer, and you have already wasted more time than could possibly be any good. Who knows how far your creators have gotten ahead of you, who knows the reason the local militia is here? Who knows why all land bordering the Withering Sands is dead?
You let gravity pull you down and fall into a crouch. Breathe in, breathe out.
You run for it. 1-40 Seen, 41-80 Pursued, 81-100 Not seen You navigate the husked flower beds and the shrunken bushes with an ease that surprises you. Elation fills you, as run along the Hedge with its still sharp thorns, intend on the main gate.
A yell disturbs rips away your clarity.
They spotted you, but you are already halfway out the gate. With your current momentum, there will be no catching up to you.
To the east lies the Withering Sands. The North and South is the dead border between the town and the desert, most of the border is within the Witheroak Estate. To the West lies the town, a few other estate owners and their tenants.
Where do you go from here? [] Write in.
