Saga looked all around her while she spoke, looking for any weaknesses or hints that they doubted her. The stone armored one was clearly a manip of some sort, powerful too if he was willing to push his will upon so many unknowns. The loud boy was annoying, the lack of manners could be a quirk used to throw off people of his true motives but she doubted it. It felt too honest, to natural. He was truly lacking in concern so he was either powerful or a fool, either would show in time. The burning one, conduit was rough but a possible associate. she could be useful. Micah seemed different to the rest, more calculating, the eye contact thing was too methodical, she matched each eye then moved on quickly. Intelligent and careful. Someone to be wary of. The others might become important in time but for now the focus had to be in the movers and shakers
Sage stepped back onto the edge of the ledge when she had finished speaking, being in the public eye as herself was draining. she needed to get away from the eyes, just for a while, she needed to commune with her gods soon enough and she didnt want an audience for that.

"I'll accept the neutral ground now that everyone's in sight. I'm Schlock. Mercenary. You might have heard my reputation."
Shifting his head slightly so his eyes emerge, Schlock looks around at the group. His gaze falls on the professionally attired cynical woman.
"I agree that I would like to know more about who our erstwhile 'employer' might be but I don't think we're going to get much more information than we already have."
Honestly he wasn't really too worried, he was hard to kill and he didn't mind a bit of wanton carnage. Anyway, an assassination target would usually be wealthy meaning plenty of chances to make a little extra income.
He shifted his head and extended his body so he was looking over Conduit's shoulder at the picture,
"Also, I have no idea who this woman is, but the offer seems to be taking her life for all our lives so the balance of payment is technically in our favour if we go through with this. Though I agree," He nodded at Saga "That the balance of power we have raises some questions about the difficulty of the task."
He snapped his body back into the roughly humanoid shape again and said "However, I'm happy to take the job on, I haven't had any challenging jobs in a while."

The sleep was starting to drift away from her, and Micah was able to turn the problem around in her mind.
"It's not just theatrics." She realized aloud. "It's theatrics as a message. By bringing us all here, against our will, our potential employer is showing us they have power. The 'or die' on that picture isn't an idle threat; if he or she can kidnap us and transport us in our sleep, they certainly have the ability and knowledge needed to kill us."
"My power in particular is more dangerous and unpredictable when I'm sleeping, getting us here was no easy task. I don't trust the employer, I don't like the job, I don't know any of you but..." Micah frowned "...I don't think we have much of a choice."
As if to punctuate her statement, Micah walked over to stand next to Schlock.
"I hate it. But I'm in."

Conduit looked over the black mass and raised an eyebrow. "Indeed. She could be a Gadgeteer...." She studied the picture again, committing it to memory. She went over to Saga and handed the picture to her. "i've seen some of your work. Blackmailed a rather.... vicious meta gang leader if I remember correctly." Once Saga had taken the picture she continued, "Figured you might know more about this girl than us." Conduit went to stand beside the black mass that was Schlock. "Anyone want to try and test out mysterious employers ability to kill us?" She stared at the loud mouth, Conduit disliked him already. Too loud and annoying, he would become a liability rather quickly if this was how he was all the time.

The woman on the picture looks thin and pale, as if she doesn't see much sunlight or movement. None of you has ever seen her before, or heard of someone who matches her description.
A close look at the picture reveals a pained, but well-hidden expression in her eyes, as if she's not a stranger to pain.
Saga sees darkness when she touches it, followed by a line of light she's moving towards. Then, slowly, a scenery can be seen - a short, rather nerdy guy with large glasses, in a suit, pulls her out of the printer, turns her around and writes on her. Then he puts her into the folder, and everything goes dark. She hears a few more indistinct sounds, then several hours of - warm - nothingness, before being removed from the folder and handed to her.
The guy looked vaguely hispanic, though not very much so, with an utterly atrocious looking mustache and badly combed, thinning hair. She doesn't recognize him.

Saga looked between the picture and the group as she spoke, easily slipping into her voice of command that she used on her own underlings.
She pointed to the building in the desert.
Saga looked at the faces of all the members of the group. they all had looks of deep thought on their faces, none of them were stupid, except maybe the loud mouthed fool.

"I find myself forced to agree, that we must move on. As much as I hate this, I do not like my chances against whoever set this up, I have never been much of a fighter."
Ash purposely did not introduce herself in fear they might recognize her name, outright lies could prove problematic. She ramped up her scent, not enough to make people forget about her, but enough to stop paying attention. The armored man seemed mostly immune anyways. He also seamed rather reasonable and likely powerful. At the very least he didn't seem like the type to start anything, that could be very useful. Ash positioned herself so the armored man we between her and the others, making sure to obscure her trail as she went. She stopped biting her nails but started on some generic nervous fidgeting, not that anyone should notice, but best not get lazy.

Pitfall, who had remained remarkable silent and, except for crossing his arms before his chest, utterly still throughout the whole conversation nodded. It was only one tiny movement, one curt nod and, in order to draw attention to himself he uncrossed his arms, clapped his hands, and nodded again. Hopefully the noise of stone hitting stone would be loud enough to snap everyone out of their thoughts. So far the nuisance did not speak again, which was good, but the others were restless, while he had another theme to discuss. He decided to raise that particular topic later. No use in trying to persuade someone who does not wich to talk anymore he thought. He spoke.
he noticed the snake woman moving in his back while he spoke, but decided to ignore her for now. if she pulls something funny here and now with this having been declared neutral ground she must be very powerfull indeed. And when two layers of stone with a lot of sand between them do not stop her i'm probably useless in a direct fight against her anyway. He refocused on Saga

Saga spoke clearly but she was obviously uncomfortable with the direction this discussion had gone. she fidgeted with her the hem of her cloak. being under scrutiny was uncomfortable, no wonder her targets hated being around her. knowing that someone was viewing you as an asset or a piece to be played was not a nice thing to experience.
She stood looking down at the building. knowing more would be wonderful but it was all so carefully constructed that it was fruitless to search further. there was no information to find. we have to move forwards, play the hand we have been dealt. then when it was over, deal with the men that had placed them here. placed her here. inside she was seething at the knowledge that someone knew enough to do this to her. they would pay, their whole world would crumble at making an enemy out of her.

Herne, who had been standing quietly all this time, spoke up,
"Then I guess we are in agreement, we should check out the building and see if we can get anything useful."
He picks up his backpack, which he left on the ground earlier when getting up, and swings it around himself onto his back.
"I don't suppose any of you have perception powers to check out the building from here?" He asks looking around the group.

Then he turned back to Saga
finally he turned slightly, and took a step back, to better see everyone, except the snakewoman

"Sounds good to me." Conduit spoke nodding, keeping the flame active, just in case. "I suppose I should mention my power. I can temporarily steal virtually any power through touch. Anything stronger than Paragon is downgraded." She held up her purple/blue fire. "I have paragon pyro and cyro-kinesis in reserve along with an exemplar level general senses enhancement." She looked to Herne, who had apparently understood that being an abrasive jackass was a bad idea. "If there is anyone in there we can get information... don't suppose anyone has a Control power related to people?" She asked softly, eyes going to the building below.

Micah's eyes narrowed, and in response to her suspicions It stirred in her. 'A control power related to people' was a specific enough question that it made her nervous, especially coming from someone who could duplicate her powers.
How would that even work, stealing my power? Would she physically take It away from me? She brushed the thought aside.
"I have a Control power," She replied, just as softly, "but it won't work so well to gain information. It also requires physical contact." She spoke the half-truth smoothly, hoping no one was holding back a lie-detecting power. "It's worth noting this team our 'employer' has cobbled together doesn't seem to have many long-range players. We're not going to accomplish anything by sitting around here."
If she was reading the social cues correctly, everyone was waiting for someone else to make the first move, so Micah turned and began walking in the general direction of the hut. It didn't like that she was turning her back on the others, but its objections were weak enough that she could shrug them off.

At least one of the team was professional he thought. He moved after Micah, flowing over the rocky landscape, acquiring some shiny rocks in the process. He wondered what her control power did.
Feeling the gaze of the people behind him, he moved his head around inside him so he could glance back. They really were a motley crew. What was so special about this woman?
He reoriented his head to talk to Micah, "Once we reach the hut, let me have a look around first. I can spot security systems, so I should be able to bypass any defenses to get us in." His voice was confident, he had no doubt he could do it easily. "Also, I gather that I'm likely harder to kill via mundane methods than you are, so best if I draw any fire from potential guards."

Saga joins the leaving pair. She is sick of being here with nothing to do and no options. Going to the building is the only way forward that she can see, arguing about it and trying to find further ways to discover information without action is pointless. For all we know the ridge we woke up on is the target of a bombing flight schedule. She says nothing as she joins them, there is nothing to be said.
