Yeah that's what I'd understood, same time today ***
Should I call the police so they can pick up the bodies? Mmmm... nah they'll be here soon enough.
As soon as I was done storing Grendel's contrivances I headed back toward the others.

Since mandragons isn't online, I'll have Paladin step out of sight for a bit. ***"Later," replies Paladin as a middle aged woman answers the door.
"May I come in?" Paladin asks the woman, "I'm a representative of the United Heroes. I would like to speak with Allison Brock."
The woman looks worried, but lets Paladin in and closes the door behind her. Beowulf turns to face the approaching White Kitsune.
"You do realise you won't be able to you any of Grendel's contrivances right?" points out Beowulf.

"I want to try and study them. Besides it wouldn't be safe to leave contrivances laying around, somebody could pick them and get ideas. In any case it at least force Grendel to make new ones instead of just sending someone to retrieve these. Won't keep him busy long I admit, nothing here look unique."

"You should probably wear one of the helmets," says Beowulf, "They protect against mind control and are better at protecting the wear than your mask. I'm going to go and get my first sword. With any luck, I should be able to reforge the blade."

"Oh yeah?" I fished one of the helmet out, examining it carefully.
I wonder what's the logic behind the mind control protection... Duh, probably magic... still, worth a shoot.

"We should probably be able to get away while Paladin is busy with Allison," says Beowulf as he walks towards his broken sword, "He may know about us, but it isn't like he knows our secret identities after all, eh?"

"Oh, so you were planning on saying yes to his proposal but not really go through with it? Or are you planning on coming back later?"
It was okay for me either way. I just wasn't sure of what Beowulf was planning.

"I don't trust the United Heroes," replies Beowulf as he picks the broken sword, "It's not like we're doing well enough on our own. We already got resources and a base. Plus this way, you can keep your powers secret from your parents for longer."
Beowulf walks down the road.
"Do you want try and finish off Grendel while we got him on the run?"

I follow.
"Not without something to counter that speedster. I'm thinking we should prepare and get them later, pick them on by one, starting with the henchmen. During the night maybe."
True, my parents would probably be quite shocked if I told them I had superpowers. They might get over it if I was registered, and they may even recover from me fighting crime if I was part of the UH. Still, that was only a problem if they did know about it.

"Know thy enemy my friend," replies Beowulf looking over his shoulder at White Kitsune as he heads down the street, "I have spent the last two years preparing to take on that monster and this is the weakest he has been."
"I know that he only has eight members of his gang left now. I know that he only created four of his greatswords. I know that while he can regenerate major injuries like a lost eye or finger, it will take a few weeks. I know that he loses most of his strength without those greatswords."
Beowulf's posture darkens.
"And I know first hand even before my manifestation about the rages he gets when things go wrong and he likes to pick on women and children at hand when he does. And finally, I know his lair like the back of my hand."
"So want to save the town tonight?"

I stopped cold.
"Shit you're right. The females supervillains, they may be criminals but they don't deserve what he could do to them. I'm in."
I followed again. The supervillainess weren't defenceless thought, if Grendel was stupid or angry enough to try and take them on he could be further weakened by them. It was truly the best time to strike.

"Stop here," growls Beowulf as he comes to a sudden halt down a desolate street in the middle of Grendel's territory, "Just down this road is Grendel's lair."
As if too prove the point, one of Grendel's henchmen comes running out of a house. He doesn't make it far before a purple flash follows him out. The purple flash swiftly grabs the man by the back of the head and fires a beam of pink energy into his face, almost too quick for the duo to see. The purple flash disappears back into the building.
"Ah hell," curses Beowulf.
