Ok, so none of the gangsters manifested. Paladin goes up one level, and Beowulf doesn't upgrade.

Pretty much. Could you do the rolls for Paladin's level up and post them here or in the character thread?

Dream: lxFlUAIC1-41 Power: Your power is just stronger than most. DV +5%Nightmare(1-100. Roll Nightmare if 1-50.): 1-100_Nightmare: 1-41 A Fall: You lack control over your power. Using it for delicate tasks is out of the question for you, and you can rarely use it casually. DV + 15%Oshha - I assume the a Fall nightmare negates the effects of the flying dream, averaging them out? 1-41·1-100·1-41

Power and a Fall, more power and less control, that's a good combination right?

Well my first Dream roll was Flying, which gives more control. I'm not sure how the Fall Nightmare would change that.

Maybe they wouldn't cancel each other but act on different levels? Like you've got more control on the obvious aspects and yet in a roundabout way you don't have full control on your power?

Or I have fine control over one part and lack that in another area. Like I can manipulate it and shape it at the same high level as before (which let me target all of Grendel's limbs separately while cycloning around my body) but I can't control the intensity of the purefire (which hasn't been a problem up until now as it's basically been on full blast. At higher levels though, this could be an issue). Or vice versa. Or something completely different. Although if it was the thing I just suggested (inability to control intensity) then it would pretty much fulfill the Dead Nightmare as well. Just a thought for future leveling up.

Go with what you think is the best fit for Paladin's characterisation. Personally I like the idea of Paladin having control of the form that his purefire takes and being able to manipulate due to the Dream of Flying while being unable to control the intensity due to the Nightmare of A Fall.

No The Dead Nightmare include people dying, your purefire doesn't really burn if I understood correctly? Other than that yeah I think having control over how it moves but basically having it always on full power could be the result of Flying and a Fall together I think

AceOfSpade has a point, purefire won't burn people unless they are evil or corrupted. tieshaunn sent me some notes on the United Heroes. He said to keep in mind that there are just a bunch of notes, are far from complete and parts of it may be contradicted by future canon. I think these notes would be useful for mandragons as well as Paladin will have in-game knowledge of them. Edit: And it occurred to me, that Tieshaunn might not have wanted me to post it online for everyone to see. Sorry if that was the case as it did not occur to me until after I did it. Fun fact, spellchecker asked me if I meant to spell Haughtiness instead of Tieshaunn.

I think I'm going to go with the continued high-level control of the purefire, and lack of control over its intensity.
And yes I know that the purefire will only burn the evil and corrupted, but at a certain point (high Apex Tier or so) using it without careful guidance on, say, a normal bankrobber will probably just kill him. Which, while handy, may be a hindrance in some cases.
Ok, I'll take a look at the UH doc.

So it seems like we (Paldin+recruits) are going to have to establish a regional office in the middle of Einn's Burrow next.

yep I've read that too, with staff and infrastructures and everything... this is going to be fun Edit: Didn't Einn's Burrow have an UH office in the past though? There was a team of UH parahumans, before they got driven out by Grendel, so we can probably use these old offices... unless somebody bought them since or something like that.

Yeah, the UH office isn't owned any more as Grendel took it over. It currently sits at the centre of his territory and was the headquarters of his gang while his personal lair is two blocks away and was his former house (and where we fought him and the Invisible Slasher killed him). Paladin will still have to call in non-metahuman personal and there will need to be repair work. Plus we will still need to try and recruit Allison Brock and sort out the issue of Beowulf's education and legal history. He has been in hiding for the last two years to the point nobody knew he was still alive so Brant Kraus hasn't gotten an education since then and Brant McAllister is a missing person case, presumed dead given who his father is.

Damn I was looking forward to White Kitsune trying to meddle with the office plans for the sake of neat and efficient organization. Oh well I guess I can still have him complaint about how bad the floorplan is and make suggestion on how to improve it.
